Quiet Hours
Will the Smart Wet Bay disturb my sleep?
We love to camp don't we, especially in an RV because we are either taking a break from home and possibly enjoying somewhere new or our home is our RV and home goes wherever we go.
There are however some things that can make your time less enjoyable and it could be something like noisy neighbours that ignore the quiet hours campground rules and keep you awake while you are trying to fall asleep to the gentle sounds of nature.
As with all of our features and programming, all ideas originate from users feedback and suggestions and even how and where they use their RV.
One of those features of the Smart Wet Bay is Quiet Hours. With your Smart Wet Bay, you set your quiet hours. This means that you can set a range of time, (ususally overnight), where if your system sees the black or grey water tanks reach their setpoint it wont immediately dump and flush but instead wait until the time has finished and then go about its business of emptying and cleaning your tanks.
"How does it work?", I hear you ask. Well its a very simple process.
When you have your sewer hose connected and the Smart Wet Bay registers it, you can enter Auto Mode. When the tank gets filled to its setpoint it will automatically dump and flush based on your preferences that you have set. In that same settings page, which you access by tapping the green flashing PPO logo, you will find the Quiet Hours settings.
These are simply an On/Off button to activate and two sets of numbers which are the start and finish times of your quiet hours.
Tapping on the numbers opens a keypad and allows you to enter a number from 0-23. The smart Wet Bay uses a 24 hour clock and the first two digits of the hour is what is needed to enter a time. Example, 10pm is 2200 hours in the 24 hour clock and so into the keypad we enter 22. 7am is 0700 hours so we enter 07. This means that if you happen to get up in the night and flush the toilet between these hours and the setpoint for flushing the black tank is suddenly reached, the system will wait till 7am before it starts its dump and flush process.
"What if the tank fills up during quiet hours". We reccomend that you dont set your Smart Wet Bay to automatically dump at 100%, this is because as the tank fills up there are more gasses created, smells and more tank to clean. We tend to set most tank systems up for our customers for dumping and flushing to 75%. This allows a little room in the tank so you wont hit the full tank during quiet hours and gives you some time if you happened to have an issue with your sewer or sewer hose.
However if during quiet hours you do manage to reach a full tank, the system will perform a single dump where it will only empty the black tank then empty the grey tank. There is no flushing during quiet hours as this makes the most noise.
Happy Campers sleep well and dont worry about things like this because they have a PPO Smart Wet Bay.
Semi Boondocking
How can the Smart Wet Bay help me if i dont have a sewer?
Ok so the Smart Wet Bay is fantastic for those that spend a longer time in resorts or full hookup campgrounds. The happy feeling that you never have to go out to dump your tanks, even if you have an RV where you can press buttons to open your tanks you still need to monitor your tanks and empty accordingly. That thought of, "when did I last flush the tanks?", never crosses the mind of our customers.
But how is automatic dumping going to work when im boondocking, you know off the grid?
We test our sytem in all different types of situations and have quite a few things we have discovered, we want this to be the most user friendly way to manage your holding tanks in every way.
So the Smart Wet Bay is fully user customizable, in as many ways as we can think of so far. The settings pages allow you to adjust at what level you want your tanks to empty, how many cycles of flushing the system will use to keep your tanks fresh. Those settings also allow you to prevent flushing to conserve water and even prevent individual tanks from emtying automatically.
Currently we are in a semi-boondocking situation, we have a full power hookup and a well water supply. But we have no sewer! In fact the sewer is a way away and not possible to move the RV there. We got ourselves set up with a tote system to move our wastewater to a dump location but we like to live comfotably, we use our dishwasher to conserve waste water, we use our laundry machine and we obviously shower. We can get through a lot of grey water and we have friends stay in our rv looking after our dogs when we travel for work. We have been given permission to set up a soak away for grey water and this is working well for us.
We set our system to automatically dump the grrey tank at 25%. this means about 15 gallons at a time which seems to allow it to soak away without ground saturation.
But how can we use this and not have our black water valve open automatically?
We have developed settings to prevent the black gate valve from opening from any of the auto modes, even the High Level Alarm which normally prevents the tank from overflowing when in Auto doesnt activate it. If it does hit the High Level Alarm the fresh water supply to the RV is shut off and the Water Pump stopped from running which all stops the tank from overfilling.
Ok but now we have a full black tank and yes we know that tomorrow we will empty the tank into a tote and will be taking it to a dump location but the High Level Alarm is activated and stopping water from entering the RV. But say we have some room in the grey water tank and we just need water for a quick shower? Theres a button to overide the Alarm for 15 minuites and let us get in that shower, just remember though that the high level alarms for both tanks are overridden and you run the risk of overflowing. After the 15 minuites the alarm will sound again and will continue to sound until the full tank is emptied. Pressing in the Emergency Stop button will silence the buzzer but still indicate on screen the full tank alarm.
These safety, control and customization operations make the PPO Smart Wet Bay a revolution to the RV industry and an option that every manufacturer will be offering.
